Carpet Cleaning, The Most Boring Chore Ever

Household cleaning is not such a big pleasure. Any housewife can tell you that. When it comes to putting together a top of the most boring chores ever, carpet cleaning goes on top of the list, at least in my case. This happens because carpets are most prone to accumulate a lot of dirt, plus the inevitable hairs and all kinds of stains from the things we occasionally drop or spill on the floor.

The most encountered floor covering dirt removal challenges are fruit stains, wine leaks, blood drops and hardened mud. In such situations, after many unsuccessful cleaning attempts, you see that you need to take the mat to a specialized laundry service to get it cleaned. Unfortunately, this is not always beneficial for your carpets. One of my friends took her carpets for laundry cleaning in a specialized shop, and they returned them after about one month, smelling like mold all over. There was no way she could put those carpets inside the rooms, so she had to wash them again.

For easier jobs, like cleaning the dust or the black shades left on hardwood floors by slippers or shoes, I just use a good floor detergent and a sponge mop. For animal hair, I have a special brush which can be attached to the vacuum cleaner. This kind of brush is very efficient even on carpets, as it removes even smaller hairs that went deep into the carpet fibers.

If your health is not that good and you cannot rely on your knees you can get a special carpet cleaner which is in fact a big basin with a sponge and a pump which is manually operated. You press a button and the water with detergent enters into the sponge while you move it along the blanket or the carpet. Another good idea is to choose a carpet steam cleaner which can also disinfect your carpets besides deep cleaning them.

After a whiloe, the carpet gets dried and it will look much better than before cleaning. However, such devices will never make a carpet look like new, especially if it’s of a light color.
